Singer, fiddle / Guitar player, Martin Branigan has achieved recognition over his many years on the music scene.
Having worked as a welder amongst other things Martins dreams have
started to come true. Following a distribution deal in November 1999,
the growth of sales have increased yearly.
Martins first album The Answer which captured the attention of the
public including classic tracks such as Working Man, Fields of Athenry,
Answer to Everything, plus the self penned I Believe in Ireland,,( a
moving tribute to his father and his sadly deceased friend Liam
O'Donnell ) still remains a strong selling album in its ninth year of
its availability.
The
year 2000 saw the release of the second album, My Moments With You, co.
produced with Maurice Cheetham, also has a varied selection of strong
material with compositions like She Wears My Ring, My Son , Legend In
My Time and If I Only Had Time.
At the outset of recording this 2nd project Martin was offered a song
by Huddersfield songwriter Paul Lucker, Ireland My Ireland, in which
Martin has great faith in to this day, (when you listen to the track
you can almost see the beautiful scenery that Ireland has to offer) why
the Irish tourist board haven't picked up on this song we will never
know!
Due
to the interest these recordings generated, in the summer of 2001,
Martin accepted an offer to play selcted venues in Canada which he
thoroughly enjoyed. It was 2002 before Martin and Maurice returned to
the studio to start work on the third album, In this Life mixing
original songs with modern interpretation of classic hits, is proving
to be a resounding success with the fans, and as with all Martins
albums it includes an original If heaven had a phone, written by Beryl
Alexander for her late husband David. In this Life also features So
Lucky, Mountains of Mourne, Blame it on the Bossa Nova, and Crying
time. The response from the promotional copies sent to the radio
stations and retail outlets is proving that its appeal spans across the
generations.At one of Martins current gigs you can expect a diverse
mixture of Country/ Irish /Ballads and the occasional rousing fiddle
tune.
TV and radio interviews, combined with press coverage internationally
at its peak, his golden voice have cast its spell on many devoted
listeners. Martin is currently working on a fourth album which will be
released in the autumn.
Martins
growing success in 2005 has gained new heights with a promising year
ahead, his blend of music all leads to a winning formula.
